“Sweat and Blood” explores themes of inner emigration—personal alienation from oppressive systems—amid sensory overload and mental escapism. The work combines social criticism with personal trauma and examines the normalization of war in today’s world, doing so through subtle acts of withdrawal rather than confrontation.
The work takes as its starting point Actionism’s romanticized engagement with trauma and asks how we respond to horror today. At its core is an aestheticized, inward-looking escape from reality. It critiques the sanitized, selective engagement with war, violence, and discrimination that dominates today’s information landscape.
