WAS IST WIENER AKTIONISMUS is published to mark the opening exhibition of the same name at the WIENER AKTIONISMUS MUSEUM (WAM) and is intended as an accessible introduction to one of the most significant international artistic movements of the 20th century. The focus is on the 1960s and early 1970s, the movement’s heyday, with brief insights into the period that followed, when Brus, Nitsch and Muehl were no longer in such close contact or engaged in such close artistic exchange with one another, and Schwarzkogler had already passed away.
