With reference to Ad Reinhardt’s comic-like series How to Look from the 1940s, Thomas Feuerstein’s graphic updates Louis Sullivan’s maxim ‘form follows function’.
New branches grow on the tree of art, branches are sawn and mushrooms sprout subversively from the humus of history. In the background is a diagrammatic network of universal metabolic processes, as they take place in the smallest bacteria and in our bodies and make our thoughts and actions function. Not without irony, superimposes the symbolism of art on the metabolism of nature.
